Get Inspired By Someone Who Has “Done It”
As beginners pursue a new hobby, it’s important to hear from an expert. Someone who has been there and done that.
We want to hear about what it takes, what we need to get started, how to make smart purchases so we don’t overspend or get taken advantage of.
We want to know about the benefits of getting involved in the activity before we take the time, spend the money and mental bandwidth to learn something new.
We want to know the pros and cons before we begin our own journey.
Why We Need Experts
Experts instantly become our credible, invaluable source of information.
They are the teacher, mentor, guru, that we want to hear from before, during and after we get started.
Malcolm Gladwell wrote in his bestseller, Outliers: The Story of Success, that it takes a minimum of 10,000 hours to master a skill.
Don’t you think it would be really helpful to find out what someone who had put that kind of time into their craft could tell you about it?
To Find an Expert
If you are interested in starting a particular hobby, we have included a YouTube video from an expert giving you important information for getting started.
First, select one of the categories below. Once there, select one of the hobbies and watch the “How to” YouTube video.
One of two things will happen.
- You will get so excited about starting that you take action TODAY
- You will KNOW that this hobby is NOT for you
Whichever one happens, you will be closer to finding your passion.
So, let’s look at an example. I clicked on Arts & Crafts and then on Knitting.
The “How to” video is for beginners, so you can see if this would be something that you can conquer. Take a look.
Did you watch it? OK. So, you are either making plans to give this to everyone on your Christmas list OR you didn’t even sit through it all and are ready to watch something else!
Only you know what you like and hearing an expert explain what is necessary will get you to your decision a lot quicker.
Share Your Talent
Remember the saying that we started with?
Maybe YOU have an interest in a hobby and you are really good at it. People are always asking your advice and picking your brain in a particular area.
Congratulations, my friend.
You are the guru.
You are teacher.
YOU are the expert.
You don’t have to have put 10,000 hours into it.
If you would consider yourself “advanced,” know a lot about the topic and can share what you have learned, you are the expert to someone who has never tried it before.
You don’t have to know everything, just more than a beginner would.

You don’t have to be making money from your hobby to act as an expert. Just skip question 6, if necessary. However, if you are making money from your hobby, we would love to promote you.
