There are so many fascinating people at the Canton First Monday Trade Days in Canton, TX. I had the pleasure of meeting Connie Gibson who has a farm near Corsicana, TX.
Connie left a corporate job and is now following her passion. She grows her own herbs and then sells a variety of products from the herbs.
I want to share her incredible interview and you will find out for yourself.
What hobby are you good at?
How long have you been doing it?
Growing for 10 years
How did you get good at it? What shortcuts or secrets can you share?
Trial and error. Shortcuts or secrets like what plants “bolt” or go to seed quickly. Which plants are complimentary to each other with watering needs. I think that’s kind of important. The fact that you have to use them and trim them for them to keep growing. But one plant can go a very long way.
What advice would you give to beginners who want to grow herbs?
Put them in the ground and not in pots.
Are you a member of any local or national organization/club related to your hobby? If yes, please share the name and benefits of belonging.
There’s so much information out there. Just get online and google. I don’t use the Internet much I read magazines for supplemental material and more information.
Do you have a website, Etsy store, Facebook page, etc. that you have created and would like to share?
Also, visit Connie at her incredible booth at Canton First Monday Trade Days. Don’t those pictures above make you want to go?
Any other information that you would like to share?
Everyone should just look at them differently. Don’t be afraid of growing them. Use them. Eat herbs at every meal because with every little bite of an herb you are adding critical nutrition to your diet. It’s an easy way to make a healthy change.
If you would like to share your hobby, go to Get Interviewed and complete the form and submit. I am always on the lookout for experts to share their story. Are YOU next?
